Russian athletes will be barred from the 2026 Olympics: FIS decision.
According to inkorr.com: The organizers of the 2026 Olympic Games have unveiled a new design for the victory podium. On the official page of the 2026 Olympics on Instagram, it was announced that the podium, inspired by Italian craftsmanship, is made in an original style and form.
Restrictions for athletes from Russia and Belarus
The Council of the International Ski Federation (FIS) has decided not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the qualifying competitions. Therefore, athletes from Russia and Belarus who have individual neutral status (AIN) will not be able to participate in the qualifying competitions for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan.
It is worth noting that Russian speed skater Daniil Naidenishev, recognized as neutral by the International Skating Union (ISU), expresses support for the occupier Mikhail Lebedev on social media, including liking his photos and videos from the war against Ukraine.
Ukrainian speed skater Daniil Naidenishev, having received the status of a neutral athlete, has decided to refuse to support a person involved in the conflict on the territory of Ukraine. This choice has led to his refusal to participate in the qualifying competitions for the 2026 Olympics.
Thus, the FIS decision and the position of the Ukrainian athlete intensify the issue of the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions. These events also highlight the difficult moral choices faced by athletes in the context of global conflicts.
