Eurovision 2026 in Vienna: The Stage Design and New Rules for Viewers Revealed

According to ТСН: The information about the stage of the upcoming international song contest 'Eurovision 2026' has become known.

The competition will take place next year in Vienna, and the Austrian broadcaster ORF will be responsible for its organization. Not long ago, a press conference was held, where the stage design and its lighting were presented.

Stage Design

The author of the concept and the artistic director of the advertisement is Florian Wider, who is working on the stage design for 'Eurovision' for the first time. Next year, the stage will have a grand appearance. A large LED structure in the shape of a curved leaf will be placed in the center, which will become the main visual point of the performances. The design will be complemented by a curved arch and a complex support structure. The 'green room' will be connected to the stage by a walkway, allowing participants to move through the audience hall.

New Rules for Viewers

At the press conference, new rules for viewers were also announced. Visitors will be able to unfold flags of any countries in the hall, as long as they are not prohibited. Additionally, in case of booing of the participants' performances, these sounds will not be muted. For instance, last year's entry from Israel was received ambiguously, but it was not audible in the broadcast as artificial applause was transmitted.

“We will allow all official flags that exist in the world, as long as they comply with the law. We will not decorate or avoid showing what is happening, because our task is to show things as they are,” the broadcaster's statement said.

Participation of Countries

It is planned that 'Eurovision 2026' will be one of the most scandalous in the history of the contest, as five countries have refused to participate due to the representation of Israel. Thus, only 35 countries will showcase their entries in the anniversary contest, which is the smallest number since 2003.

Therefore, 'Eurovision 2026' promises to be special not only due to the bright stage design but also because of the new rules for viewers. The absence of several countries in the contest may also affect the overall atmosphere of the event, as the competition will attract even more attention due to its scandalous aspects. How events around the contest will develop remains to be seen.
