US House Approves Over $1 Billion in Security Aid for Ukraine and New Sanctions on Russia.
Military Assistance Bill for Ukraine Passes House Vote
According to UATV: The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill authorizing military aid for Ukraine, post-war reconstruction support, and fresh sanctions against Russia. The measure received 226 votes in favor, with 195 lawmakers opposing it.
The legislation allocates more than $1 billion for security assistance and Ukraine's recovery after the conflict. It also includes up to $8 billion in defense loans for the country.
The bill advanced through a special discharge petition, which gathered support from 18 Republicans and one independent lawmaker, who joined Democrats in pushing it forward. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio additionally announced $400 million in military aid for Ukraine.
