Cellar with the inscription Death walks behind you: Brits discover secret room with rock graffiti.
According to ТСН: Hannah and Sam from Lancashire in the UK have started a grand restoration of their historical home and are sharing the process on social media. However, one of their videos went viral due to a discovery in the cellar that the realtor hadn't mentioned.
The story of the unusual cellar is described by Newsweek.
Room of Fear
When the couple first descended into the cellar, the flashlight revealed a message on the wall that stunned them:
“DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU”(“Death walks behind you”).
“When we entered the cellar and saw this inscription, we didn’t know what to think. Especially those words... at first we didn’t recognize it was a song lyric,” remembers Hannah.
In a state of shock, the couple learned that before them was not a terrifying lair, but a shrine for music lovers from past decades.
The walls were decorated with the names of iconic rock bands and performers: Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, T. Rex. And the creepy phrase about death turned out to be the title of a popular album and song by the band Atomic Rooster from 1970.
The Fate of the “Rock-n-Roll” Cellar
The video from the cellar gathered hundreds of likes, and commentators noted the excellent musical taste of the previous residents. “At first it’s creepy, but when you understand the meaning — it’s cool,” users wrote.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to preserve the original graffiti. Due to significant dampness in the cellar, the new owners had to remove the plaster down to the bricks.
However, Hannah and Sam found a way to honor the history of the house: “We took high-quality photographs of the inscriptions so that we can later print them, frame them, and hang them on the renovated walls as posters.”
The couple, who bought the 1930s house in The Hague, discovered hidden doors behind a layer of drywall that led to an entire room, the existence of which no one had suspected.
This discovery not only amazed the new owners but also showed that interesting stories can always be hidden in old buildings. Restoring old structures often opens new chapters of the past, giving them new life and attracting public attention.
