Five packages per second. Ukrposhta completed full automation of sorting.
The company 'Ukrposhta' has completed the automation of its sorting lines, reports the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. The last automatic installations were put into operation in Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia. This allows the company to sort and process all packages on automatic and semi-automatic lines of Ukrainian production. Thanks to these changes, over 85% of packages are delivered within two days or even faster, said 'Ukrposhta' CEO Ihor Smiliansky.
In addition to automating sorting lines, 'Ukrposhta' plans to implement a system that will allow tracking the route of the package and the delivery date even before it is sent. Changes will also be made to logistics to ensure next day delivery for urgent shipments or within a few days at a lower cost for orders with a longer term.
The new system allows 'Ukrposhta' to process up to five packages per second, which is eight times more than before. The company has the potential to process about 2 million shipments daily. Automated lines operate in seven key logistics centers, while semi-automatic lines function in 17 centers across Ukraine.
In addition to automation, 'Ukrposhta' is optimizing routes between terminals, logistics centers, and depots.
Since January 1, 'Ukrposhta' switched to a tariff system that depends on the volume of packages rather than their weight. The company has increased the charitable contribution it collects from each package, donating 1 hryvnia to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the charitable fund 'Kyiv School of Economics'. Overall, the company in cooperation with the 'Kyiv School of Economics' fund has transferred more than 67 million hryvnias in aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
When asked about the salaries of 'Ukrposhta' employees, CEO Ihor Smiliansky refused to answer.
