Pavlo Zibrov revealed the secret of Stepan Higa's illness: what the artist hid for years.
According to ТСН: People's Artist of Ukraine Pavlo Zibrov shared his memories of the late Stepan Higa and for the first time spoke about the illness that he concealed from his fans throughout his life.
Health of Stepan Higa
After farewell to Stepan Higa in Lviv, Pavlo Zibrov revealed that the artist suffered from serious health issues but did not want to talk about it. According to him, Stepan believed that the public should know him through music, not through illnesses. He lived for many years with diabetes and even underwent a serious operation a year ago.
“The general public, of course, did not know that he was sick with diabetes and should not have known this. In our circle, it was known. A year ago, he even underwent surgery related to this disease,” said the singer.
Creative Plans
Zibrov also recalled their joint performances with Stepan Higa and their ambitious creative plans. He remembered how once, due to his colleague's delay, he had to stretch his concert, and later a warm conversation took place between them, which led to the idea of collaboration.
“We worked on the same stage. He was supposed to perform after me, but he was late because he had a concert in the Lviv region before that, from where he immediately came to us. So I had to stretch my performance. The organizers asked: 'Pavlo Mykolaiovych, another song, one more.' No problem, we sing. After the concert, we talked, and I suggested: 'Let's do a collaboration — Pavlo Zibrov, Ivo Bobul, and Stepan Higa. You sing one verse of my 'Khreshchatyk,' I — part of the song 'This Dream,' and so on.' He liked this idea, but it was not meant to be. Millions of views, love from listeners, and works that will live on. He is already woven with golden threads into the history of Ukrainian song,” moved Pavlo Mykolaiovych.
We remind you that recently it became known about another unrealized dream of Stepan Higa. The 66-year-old performer died in a hospital in Lviv.
This conversation highlights not only the personality of Stepan Higa but also the importance of his contribution to Ukrainian music. Despite serious health problems, he remained faithful to art until the very end. His songs continue to live in the memory of fans, affirming that true art knows no bounds. Pavlo Zibrov, in turn, will cherish the memory of shared moments and plans with Stepan, demonstrating how important it is to appreciate creativity and friendship.
