Zelensky and Macron Talks: France to Prepare a Ukrainian Brigade.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the leaders of France and the Republic of South Africa, where they discussed important issues of international support and peaceful resolution.
During a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Zelensky expressed gratitude for the support of Ukraine's membership in NATO and the EU, as well as for military assistance. He also spoke about the situation on the front line and the needs of the Ukrainian military. One of the key topics was the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense system and the training of military personnel. France committed to training and equipping a Ukrainian brigade.
The leaders also discussed the results of the conferences on the Peace Formula and preparations for the meeting on nuclear safety, where France is the leader of the working group. Zelensky expressed hope for cooperation with the new French government.
During a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Zelensky emphasized the importance of developing relations between countries and thanked for the support during the Peace Summit in Switzerland. He stressed that only the unity of world leaders can force Putin to stop the war, calling proposals to freeze it unpromising.
Zelensky also spoke about the implementation of the decisions of the first Peace Summit and invited Ramaphosa to participate in the second Summit. The expansion of the representation of the states of the Global South at this event was also discussed.
