The Ukrainian boxer earned a record sum for his victory
Oleksandr Usyk received a record fee of 132 million dollars after his fight with Daniel Dubois. However, not all of this wealth will remain in his pocket due to taxes.
Roman Simutin, the boxer's lawyer, explained what taxes Usyk will have to pay in Ukraine.
Amount of taxes that Usyk will pay
According to the Tax Code of Ukraine, Oleksandr must pay the following for income earned abroad:
- 18% personal income tax;
- 5% military levy.
So, from the fee of 132.28 million dollars for the fight with Dubois, Usyk will pay:
- 23.81 million dollars in personal income tax;
- approximately 6.6 million dollars in military levy.
In total, the tax amount will be 1 billion 270.3 million hryvnias.
'If taxes have already been paid in the country where this income was received, then it is not necessary to pay taxes again in Ukraine if there is a double taxation avoidance agreement and documents confirming the tax payment from the specific income',- clarified Roman Simutin.
After paying taxes, Oleksandr Usyk will have approximately 101.87 million dollars left.
The boxer also plans to invest his winnings in various projects, including the development of his healthy food brand U7. His wife, Kateryna, has her own business in real estate.
