Former 'The Bachelor' Winner Inna Belen Denied Marriage License Over Documentation Issues.
Marriage Plans for Inna Belen and Ivan Hit a Legal Snag
According to TSN.ua: Inna Belen, who won the thirteenth season of the Ukrainian reality show 'The Bachelor,' has revealed that she and her fiancé Ivan were unable to register their marriage due to problems with her paperwork. The couple had chosen February 2, 2026, for their ceremony. This situation highlights the bureaucratic complexities that can arise in international relationships.
The refusal stemmed from documents related to Inna's previous marriage, which was conducted abroad. Specifically, her divorce was finalized in Germany, but the paperwork she presented was insufficient for a new marriage registration in Ukraine. Inna noted that the lack of an apostille—a certification required for documents to be recognized internationally—on her prior marriage documents was the key issue.
The couple traveled 200 kilometers to Natalino in the Kharkiv region, where they had planned to hold the ceremony. Expressing her frustration, Inna stated:
"Today we were going to start with the question: 'Do you know what today's date is?'"She added that the registration office was closed on Mondays, which further complicated their efforts.
The Critical Need for Proper Document Preparation
Despite the setback, Inna emphasized that the specific date is no longer important to her, as being with her partner is what truly matters. She remarked:
"The date isn't important anymore, because the main thing is that she is next to her person".
The incident involving Inna Belen and Ivan underscores the vital importance of ensuring all documents are properly prepared and certified, especially in cases involving international records. The absence of an apostille can pose a major obstacle to legalizing marriages that were documented overseas. This case serves as a cautionary tale for other couples planning to marry, demonstrating that such legal matters require a proactive approach and meticulous preparation well in advance.
