Arsenal signs Piero Hincapie: Tottenham left empty-handed.
PIERO HINCAPIE will join 'Arsenal' despite Tottenham's interest
According to The Sun: Arsenal is preparing to outpace Tottenham in signing another player as Piero Hincapie has agreed to join the 'Gunners'.
The club has agreed on personal terms with the defender and is preparing to make a formal offer to 'Bayer Leverkusen' for a possible loan with an obligation to buy, similar to the deal that brought David Raya to the 'Emirates'.
Hincapie, 23, has a release clause of £52 million in his contract, which Arsenal intends to activate. Tottenham had previously expressed interest in the player, but he will have to wait to join Arsenal as the Gunners first need to offload centre-back Jakub Kiwior.
Piero Hincapie, a left-footed central defender, like Kiwior, plans to leave Leverkusen this summer, although he has a contract until 2029. His transfer to 'Arsenal' will make him a direct replacement for Kiwior.
'Arsenal is reportedly finding it difficult to find a buyer for Kiwior, valuing him at around £25 million after signing him for £20 million including add-ons in January 2023. Porto is interested in Kiwior but needs to sell first to fund the move. They are in talks to sell 18-year-old wonderkid Rodrigo Mora to Saudi side Al Ittihad, which could pave the way for Kiwior's transfer.'

The contract with Piero Hincapie marks an important addition for 'Arsenal' and will bring changes to the team's defensive lineup. 'Tottenham' remains warm in showing interest in the player. Before the expected transfer, Hincapie must wait for Kiwior's departure, which is delayed by the issue of finding a buyer.
