Deal with a Maniac by Force, Not Talk: Podolyak on Russia’s Nuclear Threats.
Mykhailo Podolyak Weighs In on Russian Threats
According to UATV: Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian President's Office, has addressed the dangers posed by Russia, including the potential use of nuclear weapons. He argued that the international community must not let fear of Russia’s collapse paralyze its response. Podolyak highlighted past Russian aggression, such as the 2008 invasion of Georgia and the 2014 occupation of parts of Ukraine, as evidence that Moscow will not back down from threats.
Nuclear Weapons Concerns
Podolyak noted that European capitals are now seriously debating whether Russia might deploy nuclear arms.
“Today we live in a time when European capitals are periodically discussing in all seriousness whether Putin could use nuclear weapons,” he emphasized. This reflects growing regional security anxieties.
He further stressed that dealing with an aggressor like Russia requires decisive action.
“You cannot talk to a maniac. You have to handle a maniac differently: first with force, then through legal or psychiatric means,” he stated. This remark underscores Kyiv’s call for a robust response to Russian provocations.
On May 24, 2023, Russia launched the 'Oreshnik' missile for the third time during a massive bombardment. This medium-range missile can carry a nuclear warhead, heightening international alarm. Russia’s ongoing aggression, which began in 2008, remains a severe challenge for Ukraine and its allies.
Podolyak’s comments highlight the urgent threat of Russian aggression and the need for a global response. The growing fear of a nuclear strike by Moscow signals a deteriorating security situation in Europe, demanding stepped-up diplomatic and defense efforts from Western nations to maintain regional stability.
