According to ТСН: On January 7th, bad weather will hit Ukraine: the western regions will be covered in snow, while the south will experience spring warmth with temperatures rising to +11°C. Meteorologists warn of icy conditions and dense fog in several regions.
According to forecasts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the weather will be cloudy across the country.
Weather in the western regions
Snow is expected in the west of Ukraine: from moderate to heavy, especially in Transcarpathia and Prykarpattia. Daytime temperatures will fluctuate between -2 and -7°C.
Weather conditions in the north and center
In most northern regions, as well as in Vinnytsia, wet snow with possible rain is forecasted. Icy conditions and wet snow accumulation may be observed in places. Temperatures will range from 0 to -5°C.
Weather in other regions
Moderate rains are expected in the rest of the territory. Air temperatures will range from 0 to +5°C, in the southern regions from +3 to +8°C, and in Crimea up to +11°C.
In a number of regions such as Odesa, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Poltava, fog will be observed. In western, northern regions, and Vinnytsia, the formation of ice on the roads is possible.
The wind is usually northeastern, in the east and southeast, southerly, with a speed of 5–10 m/s.
It is also worth noting that from January 8th to 11th, a sharp deterioration in weather is expected in Ukraine due to an active cyclone and arctic air. Heavy snowfall (up to 25 cm of snow), blizzards with winds of up to 18 m/s, and ice conditions are forecasted in the western, northern, and central regions, which may negatively impact the operation of utility services and transport.
Attention should be paid to the fact that in the short term, weather conditions may significantly complicate movement and activities in many regions. It is recommended to exercise caution on the roads and follow the weather forecasts, as the situation may change. As the cyclone approaches, emergency response services are already preparing to address potential complications related to deteriorating weather conditions.
