Political protests have devastated tourism in Istanbul.

Protests in Istanbul affect tourism
The protests in Istanbul have been ongoing for six days, impacting tourism in the city. Some tourists are canceling or postponing their trips to the city. In the last three days, bookings for tours to Istanbul have decreased by 37%.
The rallies mostly take place in the central part of the city, at Taksim Square. This may hinder the peaceful relaxation of tourists heading to Istanbul.
The ongoing protests are predominantly taking place in a democratic atmosphere. The absence of violence and acts of vandalism indicates that they are peaceful and do not pose a serious threat to tourists. However, in areas where protesters are concentrated - such as Sarachhane and Fatih - there are movement restrictions, which may create inconveniences for the city's guests.
So far, the entry restrictions to Istanbul apply to citizens of the country, and nothing has changed for tourists. Airports and public transport are operating as usual, and the city’s landmarks and museums are open. There are no issues with food or supplies.
The protests continue, and as long as they persist, a decrease in the sale of tours to Istanbul can be expected. However, most tourists will postpone their trips and simply reschedule them for a later Time.
The protests began following the arrest of the city’s mayor last Wednesday. According to authorities, 1133 protest participants have been detained.
