The Ancient Temple Without Crosses — a Unique Location in Lviv Region.
In the village of Rozhirche in the Lviv region, there is a rock monastery that has a special energy and atmosphere.

The monastery is located within a system of underground caves that form a labyrinth. Some of the caves are two-level. Inside the temple, there is a chapel and cells. Scientists believe that the monastery was built in the 13th-15th centuries, but there is evidence that pagan rituals took place there before the adoption of Christianity. The temple was manually carved from limestone.
In the 1990s, an ancient settlement with earthen ramparts was discovered at the top of the rock. Scientists believe that it was created at the turn of the 16th-17th centuries.
According to legend, the monastery was founded by monks who fled from Kyiv, which was destroyed by the Tatars in the 1200s. They lived a restrained life, silently and fed on plants and berries. The monks earned a living by selling honey from their own apiary.
The location of this unique place is 12 km from Stryi. You can reach the village of Rozhirche from Lviv; the journey takes about 20 minutes.
