The struggle between Ukraine and Russia for strategic advantages

In the next 7 weeks before the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, Ukraine and Russia are actively trying to gain strategic advantages on the front, reports Politico.

According to experts, both sides are trying to seize as much territory as possible and strengthen their positions before potential ceasefires. Trump has already appointed Keith Kellogg as the special representative with the mandate to negotiate a ceasefire.

The situation is complicated by the aggressive rhetoric of the Russian government. Russia has deployed a large number of North Korean soldiers to the front, easing nuclear restrictions and threatening an attack on the American missile defense base in Poland.

NATO experts estimate that the Russian army is losing about 1500 military personnel every day, yet continues to advance. Ukrainian defenders continue to demonstrate resilience despite difficult conditions.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide warns that the conditions of the future ceasefire could determine the lives of Ukrainians for generations to come.

Experts believe that Putin seeks not only to reach an agreement but also to undermine the existing international order by uniting the so-called 'global majority' against the West.

The head of the Land Forces Reserve Council, Ivan Timochko, predicts that the next two months will be critical as the Kremlin will try to obtain more favorable conditions before Trump's inauguration.
