Polish Presidency in the EU: what will the new sanctions package for Russia look like.
The next EU sanctions package against Russia will be serious
The Polish government, which currently leads the European Union, has stated that the 16th EU sanctions package against Russia will be very strict. It will include a ban on aluminum imports from the Russian Federation, additional financial restrictions, and sanctions against Putin's 'shadow fleet'.
According to the Polish Minister for European Affairs, the European Commission has already sent proposals to EU member states regarding this sanctions package. He emphasized that these sanctions will be very harsh for Russia.
Among the measures included in the package are a ban on aluminum imports from Russia, additional restrictions for the Russian financial sector, and sanctions against Putin's 'shadow fleet', which exports Russian oil abroad.
Although the sanctions package does not include a ban on liquefied gas imports from the Russian Federation, the minister noted that it will still significantly impact the Russian economy.
Poland, which holds the presidency in the EU, will work towards the swift approval of this sanctions package.
