Former member of the band 'Vopli Vidoplyasova' has died.
At the age of 48, Oleksiy Melchenko, the former bass guitarist of the band 'Vopli Vidoplyasova', has died. According to a message on the band's Facebook, the musician's heart stopped on October 4th.
The band expressed its deep sorrow and mentioned that Oleksiy was a sincere and kind person. For 10 years (2007-2017) he devoted himself to music with the band 'Vopli Vidoplyasova' and left an unforgettable impact on the Ukrainian music scene. His creativity and friendship with other musicians will be remembered forever, leaving a mark on the hearts of fans.
The band mentions that Oleksiy felt lonely at some stage of his life, as he had no family and felt alone in the flow of life. The band learned of his death not immediately and has already taken care of organizing the funeral.
The funeral of Oleksiy Melchenko will take place on October 23 at 2:00 PM at the Bortnychi cemetery (Bortnychi), at the address Promyslova Street, 3 in Kyiv.
Information about the band 'Vopli Vidoplyasova'
The band 'Vopli Vidoplyasova' is a Ukrainian rock band founded in 1986 and became a pioneer of Ukrainian rock and roll and ethno-rock. The band was one of the first to play rock music in Ukrainian outside of Ukraine. In 1990, they toured European countries, and later some band members moved to Paris.
Oleksiy Melchenko joined the band in 2007 after one of the founders, Oleksandr Pipa, left the group. With Melchenko, the band recorded and released their sixth studio album 'Wonderful World', where the compositions 'Chio Chio San' and 'Vacation' stood out in particular. Oleksiy was also the bassist in the band Akapulko, the author project of Serhiy Sakhno, the drummer of 'Vopli Vidoplyasova'.
'Chervona Ruta' Festival
From September 17 to 24, 1989, the first festival of Ukrainian song 'Chervona Ruta' took place in Chernivtsi.
