Kremlin on the leak of negotiations with the USA: who is trying to disrupt peace.
According to ТСН: Assistant to the President of Russia on foreign policy Yuri Ushakov commented on the phone conversations with the special representative of the US President Steve Witkoff and another advisor to the Russian leader Kirill Dmitriyev, as reported by Bloomberg.
Ushakov expressed his opinion in Russian media, noting:
“I often talk to Witkoff, but I do not comment on the content. And Dmitriyev... I can talk on the phone with anyone. Why is this of interest to someone?”
He emphasized that by publishing these conversations, someone is trying to prevent the "improvement of relations" between Russia and the USA.
“Relations are currently being built with difficulty, especially with such contacts,” Ushakov added.
In addition, he confirmed that Witkoff, along with a group of representatives from the US President's administration, is expected to arrive in Moscow next week.
Ushakov also noted:
“I talk to Witkoff quite often, but as for the essence of the conversations, they are of a closed nature, I will not comment on them. And no one should comment... Someone leaks, someone listens in. But not us.”
We remind that the day before, Bloomberg published the transcript of the conversation between Witkoff and Ushakov that took place in October. During the conversation, the American official advised the Kremlin on how to offer US President Donald Trump a peace plan for Ukraine using flattery. This conversation preceded the scandalous “Trump's peace plan” with 28 points.
Dmitriyev called Bloomberg's publication a fake, stating that "war instigators" are trying to disrupt the peace process by spreading such materials.
Thus, the situation surrounding Russian-American relations remains tense, and the published conversations only deepen the contradictions. Both sides are trying to find common ground, but obstacles in the form of external pressure and publications that elicit ambiguous reactions continue to hinder this process. It is important to monitor the further steps of both states in this direction.
