Despite the victory, the Ukrainian women's futsal team did not qualify for the World Cup.
The Ukrainian futsal team defeated the Czech Republic in the final round of the 2025 World Cup qualifiers. However, the 'blue and yellow' failed to qualify for the Mundial. This was reported by 'Suspilne Sport'.
To advance to the elite round of qualification, the Ukrainian team needed to take first place in the group. Before the final round, the women's national team was in third place with three points: they lost to France 3:1 in the first match and defeated Northern Ireland 6:0 in the second.
After two rounds, France and the Czech Republic shared first place, having four points each. Despite this, the Ukrainian team still had chances to advance to the second round of the futsal World Cup qualifiers. For this, Ukraine had to defeat the Czech Republic, and France had to not win against Northern Ireland.
The first match to finish was between France and Northern Ireland. By halftime, the French team had scored three goals. In the second half, the Northern Ireland team managed to reduce the gap by scoring two goals, but France responded with two more, winning the game 5:2. This meant that Ukraine lost the chance to advance to the elite round of the qualifiers.
In the last round, the Ukrainian women's team played against the Czech Republic. Already in the fifth minute, Anastasia Klipachenko opened the score, and before the break, Yulia Kostiuk doubled the advantage. In the second half, goals were scored by Darya Kovshik and Iryna Dabytska, but the 'blue and yellow' could not keep a 'clean sheet,' conceding a penalty. In the end, Ukraine secured its second victory in the qualification for the 2025 World Cup, taking second place in the group. Thus, the Ukrainian team will not go to the upcoming Mundial.
It is noteworthy that earlier, the Men's Futsal World Championship took place, in which the Ukrainian team participated. The competition was held from September 14 to October 6 in three cities of Uzbekistan – Andijan, Bukhara, and Tashkent.
Notably, the Ukrainian team defeated France in the match for third place at the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The Ukrainians defeated the French with a score of 7-1.
Recall that earlier, the Ukrainian futsal team defeated the national team of Venezuela in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The match in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) ended with a score of 9:4. Ukrainian players made it into the world's top four teams for the first Time since 1996.
