Moscow wishes to restore trade ties and become a key player in the Eurasian region; however, sanctions and other measures implemented by the West are hindering the realization of this plan.
Russia also faces challenges with its allies, as some of them have leaned towards integration without Russia. Central Asian countries are encountering difficulties in their relations with Moscow.
The development of the Eurasian Economic Union has also encountered problems, particularly due to sanction pressure and currency control. Russia is seeking ways to overcome these challenges and strengthen its position in the region.
