The President of Finland outlined three phases of the peace process for Ukraine.

Finland's proposal for a peace process for Ukraine

The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, presented his vision of the peace process for Ukraine at a summit in Kyiv. He emphasized that his proposal is a preliminary version of a process consisting of three sequential phases.

'There must be something concrete in the proposals that are on the table', Stubb emphasized.

First phase: Imposition of sanctions

The first phase anticipates a period until a ceasefire, during which sanctions will be imposed and frozen assets will be utilized.

Second phase: Establishing peace

The second phase will begin after the ceasefire. It will include determining the line of demarcation, monitoring processes, and negotiations for peace.

Third phase: Reconstruction and easing of sanctions

The third phase anticipates reconstruction and possible easing of sanctions.

The President of Finland highlighted that several fundamental issues are not subject to discussion with Russia. Among them are Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO, the defense system for Ukraine, and agreements on European security.

President Zelensky also expressed the main condition for the start of peace negotiations with the Russian Federation.
