Usyk forced to fight Parker: WBO sets ultimatum for champion.
President of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Gustavo Olivieri expressed his opinion on what will happen with the anticipated match between Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker.
Recently, the WBO sanctioned this fight, but the parties have only 30 days to reach an agreement. Otherwise, the organization will announce a bidding process to conduct the match for the heavyweight championship title.
Oleksandr Usyk, who is now the absolute world champion, must defend his title against Joseph Parker. This match could take place this fall, specifically in October or November. Meanwhile, Usyk has a clear choice: follow the WBO rules and fight Parker or break them and compete with other boxers.
Ultimately, Joseph Parker also issued a challenge to Usyk, showing his motivation to have a match against another athlete under mixed martial arts rules.
