Border crossing points with Moldova have suspended operation.
Suspension of border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border
The operation of border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border has been temporarily suspended. This was reported by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, on a telethon broadcast.
«Speaking about the border with Moldova, the crossing points are not functioning, and temporarily, there are no operations being conducted on the Transnistrian segment», – stated the official.
Demchenko noted that, compared to the summer period, passenger traffic on the border has decreased. Thus, during the past day, 80 thousand people crossed the border. On weekends, passenger traffic can reach about 100-105 thousand people per day.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian border guards daily detain dozens of individuals attempting to illegally leave the country. Most of these incidents are recorded outside the crossing points in the green zone. However, since August, the number of such incidents is decreasing, partly due to weather conditions, explained the SBGS spokesperson.
According to him, there have been over 40 fatal incidents when Ukrainians attempted to cross the border through mountains or across rivers.
As a reminder, border guards near the Romanian border discovered the body of a man who planned to illegally cross the border.
As reported, for violating state border crossing rules, the State Transport Safety Service of Ukraine (Ukrtransbezpeka) disconnected 223 carriers from the «Shlyakh» system, of which 202 licensed were excluded based on materials from the State Border Guard Service.
Notably, a queue of hundreds of cars recently formed at one of the checkpoints on the Slovak border due to software issues.
