According to The Sun: Vladimir Putin criticized the detention by France of a suspected Russian tanker, suspecting it may be involved in launching drones in NATO airspace.

The Russian president warned of 'significant consequences' in response to what he termed European threats, highlighting growing tensions between Moscow and NATO over airspace violations.

This warning came after the French navy detained an oil tanker on Saturday that had already been sanctioned by the European Union for involvement in Russia's so-called 'shadow fleet.'

The 'Boracay' tanker is linked to recent drone flights over Denmark, which touched military sites.

Tracking data shows the tanker had appeared near Denmark from September 22 to 25.

It is known that the vessel was near the coasts of Poland and Sweden, and then Denmark on September 22 – the day when drones began flying over Danish airports.

These incidents in the airspace only increase tensions between European countries and Moscow, which is already strained due to Russia's war in Ukraine.

The detention of the 'Boracay', a vessel claiming registration in Benin, provoked a sharp reaction from Putin.

“This is piracy. The tanker was seized in neutral waters without any grounds,” he stated, adding that there was no military cargo on board.

“What do they do with pirates? They destroy them.”

Putin also questioned Western accusations regarding possible Russian involvement in drone flights over Denmark and views them as part of NATO's efforts aimed at escalating tensions to increase defense spending.

“I won't do this anymore, no matter where it concerns France, Denmark, Copenhagen, Lisbon,” he said with a smile.

Putin also warned the U.S. that supplying long-range missiles to Ukraine will seriously impact relations between Moscow and Washington, although it will not change the situation on the front, where the Russian army is gradually but confidently advancing.

Response to threats

“Russia's reciprocal measures will not be delayed. The response to such threats will be very significant.”

“Russia will never demonstrate weakness or indecisiveness.”

Vladimir Putin also emphasized that he does not consider himself an emperor, just an elected president, rejecting comparisons to Alexander the Great.

“Alexander the Great was an emperor; I am a president, elected by the people.”

“Alexander used force to unite Europe and defeat the enemy who invaded our land.”

Thus, the tension between Russia and NATO countries continues to rise, and Putin's statement indicates possible further escalations in relations. The subsequent actions of the parties may have serious consequences for security in the region, especially in light of the challenges posed by the war in Ukraine and the increasing military decisions.
