Robbie Williams concert in Istanbul canceled due to terrorist threat.
Security issues forced Robbie Williams to cancel his concert in Istanbul
According to The Sun: Robbie Williams apologized to his fans after the cancellation of his concert in Istanbul, which was scheduled for October 7.
Turkish authorities decided not to allow the show to take place at the Ataköy marina due to fears of potential terrorist acts.
GettyIn his Instagram, the singer noted:
“I am extremely sorry that I will not be able to perform in Istanbul next week.”
The concert organizers explained that the reasons for cancellation were security risks and potential negative consequences for society, reports Turkiye Today.
The concert was set to take place on the anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks on Israel carried out by Hamas fanatics, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the disappearance of 251. Concerns for the British artist's safety are also related to his support for Israel. Additionally, he has drawn attention due to his marriage to a woman of Turkish descent, who has Jewish roots, and for his performances in Israel.
The singer previously stated that he raises his children in Jewish traditions “out of respect.”
Robbie noted:
“The local authorities canceled the show in the interest of public safety.”
“The last thing I would ever want to do is compromise my fans' safety – their safety and protection is a priority.”
He also expressed his disappointment over the cancellation, saying:
“We were really looking forward to performing in Istanbul, as we specifically chose this city for the final show of the BRITPOP tour.”
“Ending this epic tour in front of my Turkish fans was my dream, considering my family's close ties to this wonderful country.”
Robbie expressed his gratitude to all those who were planning to attend the concert, saying:
“To everyone who would have liked to be at this show, I sincerely apologize.”
The British government advises against travel to certain regions of Turkey.
Changes in the release schedule of the new album
The singer also announced the postponement of his album 'Britpop' release from October 10 to February 6, 2026, to avoid competition with Taylor Swift's new album.
The release date was announced a few months ago but changed after Taylor's announcement last month.
This week, those who pre-ordered Robbie's album received an email stating:
“Due to changes in the schedule, the Britpop album will now be released on February 6, 2026.”Alamy
It should be noted that the cancellation of the concert and the postponement of the album highlight the difficult situation in the region and the impact of global events on cultural events. Fans hope for a swift improvement in circumstances and the opportunity to enjoy Robbie's performances in the future.
