Russia Prepares for Ecological Catastrophe in the Black Sea: A Threat to EU Countries.
According to ТСН: Russia is not only intensifying terror in Kherson through drones and artillery, but is also preparing an operation that could lead to a serious ecological catastrophe in the Black Sea region, affecting several EU countries.
This information is confirmed by secret documents that have become available to the Ukrainian intelligence.
Russia's Plans for Strikes on Critical Infrastructure
According to sources, the Russian military plans targeted strikes on oil depots, chemical warehouses, and port infrastructure in the Kherson region, located near the Dnipro delta. If this scenario is implemented, toxic substances could enter the Black Sea and spread through marine currents to the shores of Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
Experts' Warnings
Experts note that even a local spill of petroleum products or chemicals could cause massive fish die-offs, algal poisoning, and long-term water pollution. This could paralyze port operations, affect navigation, and disrupt the fishing season throughout the region.
Ukraine has already informed international partners about this threat, emphasizing that Russia is trying to create an artificial crisis to halt the operation of the 'maritime corridor' and exert political pressure on Europe.
International environmental organizations are demanding access for independent inspectors and warning of catastrophic and long-lasting consequences of potential deliberate man-made accidents.
It is important to note that earlier two tankers under international sanctions for carrying Russian oil exploded and caught fire almost simultaneously in the Black Sea.
This situation could have serious consequences not only for Ukraine but also for neighboring countries, as ecological pollution in the Black Sea could affect the entire ecosystem of the region. There is also a risk that the conflict surrounding these ecological threats could exacerbate relations between Russia and European states, which are already significantly strained due to the war in Ukraine.
