Russia's Offensive in Donetsk Loses Momentum: Expert Points to a Turning Point.
Developments in Ukraine and Russian Propaganda
According to Espreso.tv: Viktor Shlinchak, founder and chairman of the Institute of World Policy, has highlighted a notable increase in activity among Russian propagandists, who are now more openly discussing issues within the military. According to him, this shift reflects internal dynamics among Russia's elite. He suggests that the current situation in Ukraine may mark a pivotal phase in the war, with circumstances increasingly working against Putin and Russia.
Frontline Trends
Shlinchak also observed that Russia is losing its offensive momentum and its ability to rapidly seize the Donetsk region.
“But the current trend is this: Russia is losing both the pace of its offensive and its capacity for a quick capture of the Donetsk region,” he emphasized. He noted that the days of claims about capturing Kyiv in three days or subduing Ukraine in three weeks are long gone.
These developments suggest that the frontline situation may be shifting, potentially giving Ukrainian forces an advantage in the conflict's next stages.
The escalation of propaganda narratives in Russia could indicate growing pressure on the government from both society and elites, driven by battlefield setbacks. The slowdown in offensive operations may force Russia to reconsider its strategic objectives in Ukraine and adapt its military plans. This, in turn, could create new opportunities for Ukrainian forces as they continue their fight to preserve the country's territorial integrity.
