Russian Forces Disguise Fuel Deliveries Using Civilian Vehicles: Inside the New Decree.
New Order from Russian Military Command
According to UATV: According to the partisan group 'Atesh', Russian military command has issued a new directive concerning the use of civilian transport for fuel shipments across temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine. The order mandates that Russian troops employ both passenger cars and trucks to transport flammable materials.
The R-280 highway, cutting through the occupied parts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions, is designated as a key route for these fuel deliveries. This shift comes as Ukrainian defense forces have increasingly targeted fuel tankers, making them priority objectives and raising the risks for such vehicles.
Plan to Utilize Civilian Transport
The following types of vehicles are slated for fuel transportation:
- confiscated cars;
- municipal service vehicles;
- postal trucks;
- bread delivery vans;
- vans for delivering food and medicine.
Fuel will be carried in canisters ranging from 20 to 1000 liters. Notably, drivers are strictly prohibited from wearing military uniforms, suggesting an attempt to avoid detection and enhance operational safety.
This directive is certain to impact the situation in the region and may create new challenges for Ukraine's defense forces.
Using civilian vehicles for military logistics could significantly alter the conflict dynamics in occupied territories. It also indicates that Russian forces are seeking new ways to sustain their operations amid increased activity by Ukrainian troops. Given the heightened risks to transport, Ukrainian defense forces are expected to intensify their actions against such shipments in response to these emerging threats. This could lead to an escalation of the conflict in the area and increase tensions between the parties involved.
