Russian swimmer missing during Bosphorus swim: incident details.
Russian swimmer Mykola Svechnikov went missing during a swim across the Bosphorus Strait on Sunday, August 24, during the annual intercontinental swim 'Bosphorus 2025'. This information was published by the Turkish publication Hürriyet, suggesting that the swimmer may have either drowned or made it to the other shore.
According to inkorr.com: The event organizers monitored the participants with wristbands containing microchips, which only recorded entry and exit from the water, not the current location. However, Svechnikov was noticed missing only at 10:00 PM, although the event itself ended at 2:00 PM.
Doctors who examined the Russian before the swim found no health issues. The strong current in the Bosphorus Strait this year complicated the situation and caused difficulties for the competitors.
