Russian Athletes Excluded from International Competitions: What is Happening.
According to inkorr.com: The Absence of Russian Athletes in International Competitions
Georgiy Zabolotnikov, the central blocker of the 'Bilogorie' volleyball club and the Russian national team, expressed his deep disappointment that the Russian team could not participate in the World Championship held in the Philippines in September. Since spring 2022, the FIVB has decided not to allow Russia to participate in international competitions.
“It is indeed very sad. But we have what we have. Everyone watched the World Championship and cried because the Russian team was not there. And I also cried. I made some comparisons, but obviously, we would have been medalists there. I have no hope that the Russian team will be allowed in 2026”
- noted Zabolotnikov.
Reaction of Russian Athletes to the Ban
Oleksandra Saetina, a speed skater who has received neutral status from the ISU, was present at Vladimir Putin's annual address to the Federal Assembly. Together with other supporters of the president, including Veronika Stepanova, she participated in this event, violating the IOC recommendations regarding the participation of neutral athletes in such events.
The ban on the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions has become a serious topic for the sports community. It has sparked discussions in the media and among experts, as current events demonstrate significant changes in the world of sports at the international level. Without the participation of Russian athletes, competitions lose some of their charm and competition, which will undoubtedly affect the development of sports in general.
