"An investigation conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirmed the presence of prohibited substances such as methenolone, oxandrolone, trenbolone, meldonium, cathin, and pseudoephedrine. Grigorenko was charged and given an opportunity to respond. However, he did not respond, which led to the decision for a four-year disqualification."

Grigorenko's disqualification began on August 12, 2025. He won the Gagarin Cup in 2011 and played for various KHL clubs and the Russian national team at world championships. After finishing his sports career, Grigorenko became the head of the 'Sochi' hockey club.
