According to The Sun: 39-year-old coach Russell Martin was spotted on Wednesday morning carrying cardboard boxes and tape as he returned to his home in West Glasgow.

Martin was sacked on Sunday after just 123 days in charge, making him the shortest-serving manager in the club's history.

In a black tracksuit and white sneakers, the former Rangers coach was spotted by a fan while talking on the phone.

An eyewitness noted:

“He was coming back from the shops to his home around 11 am. He had four cardboard boxes and a roll of tape. It looked quite funny. It seemed like he was packing his things and planning to head back south with a bag between his legs after this shocking tenure at Rangers. He usually drives a big Range Rover, but this time he was walking. Probably the club took the car now that he has been sacked.”

Martin's dismissal came after a 1-1 draw against Falkirk. This disappointment left the Light Blues in eighth place in the Scottish Premier League, with just one win in seven matches under his management.

Martin's overall record is five wins from 17 matches, which translates to just a 29.4% win rate.

Who Will Be the Successor?

After Martin's sacking, attention shifted to the new Rangers manager.

Former club coach Steven Gerrard is certainly the favorite to return to this role.

The Liverpool and England legend managed the Light Blues from 2018 to 2021.

He led the club to a title, which was the first in ten years, stopping rivals Celtic from achieving an historic ten consecutive titles.

In a podcast with former England teammate Rio Ferdinand, Gerrard admitted that he has 'unfinished business' in his coaching career.

Furthermore, according to SunSport, the 45-year-old coach is set to hold preliminary talks with the club management this week.

These discussions are planned to take place within the next 48 hours.
