Shakhtar without six players in the match against Panathinaikos: who won't play and why.
In the decisive match of the third round of Europa League qualification, 'Shakhtar' will host 'Panathinaikos' in Krakow. The first meeting ended in a draw.
The head coach of 'Shakhtar', Arda Turan, reported that Dmitry Krytskyi, Lassina Traore, Eghinaldo, Kevin, Pedrinho, and Georgiy Sudakov will not play against the Greeks. All of them, except the last one, are injured, and Georgiy Sudakov's father passed away on August 12.
'If you ask if it is easy — no, it is not easy at all. But hard times give birth to new heroes. And I believe that tomorrow this hero will be the team,' Turan stated.
The coach also emphasized that the match against the Greeks will be important not only as a struggle for advancement to the group stage but also as support for those who cannot take the field. He expressed complete confidence and faith in the remaining players.
Turan also noted the difficulty of the match schedule, which resembles a final, and hopes that advancing to the group stage will allow the team to rest.
Situation at 'Dynamo': possible dismissal of Shovkovskiy and losses due to defeat
At 'Dynamo', a change of head coach is possible, and team leader Andriy Yarmolenko will be forced into the spotlight after the loss to 'Paphos'. The team has lost a significant amount of money due to this failure.
In the return match of the Europa League qualification, 'Shakhtar' will face 'Panathinaikos' in Krakow. The head coach of the team, Arda Turan, believes in his team, although the number of injured players and the tough game schedule create additional challenges. Despite this, he trusts the remaining players and hopes for a successful outcome that will allow the team to rest before upcoming trials.
