Special Operation 'Enigma 2.0'

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian and Moldovan security services have successfully prevented a series of contract killings planned by Russian operatives in a joint mission named 'Enigma 2.0'. The primary targets were Ukrainian journalists, public figures, and high-ranking officials. The operation was conducted by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), the National Police of Ukraine, and Moldovan law enforcement agencies. This joint action highlights the persistent threat of Russian-sponsored subversion in the region.

During the operation, ten individuals were detained, seven of them in Ukraine. The perpetrators were planning the assassinations of Ukrainian journalists, activists, military intelligence officers, and the head of a strategic enterprise. The bounty for carrying out these killings was up to $100,000. The group was led by a 34-year-old repeat offender from Moldova. Searches yielded weapons, grenades, and evidence of correspondence with handlers in Russia.

The suspects have now been formally charged with plotting contract killings and the illegal handling of weapons. Among the targets named by the Russian mercenaries was Andriy Yusov, the Deputy Head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

"My name—Andriy Yusov—was among the targets of the Russian mercenaries," he stated.

Dmytro Gordon, a prominent journalist, was also identified as a potential target. He is wanted in Russia and has been placed on an 'extremist' list. Gordon commented on the situation, saying:

"This is already the third attempt on my life—Dmytro Gordon," he declared.

The special searches as part of Operation 'Enigma 2.0' were carried out on February 19.

Outcomes of the Operation

This collaborative effort managed to stop a threat in time that had put the lives of many people in Ukraine at risk. Exposing the plans of Russian agents once again underscores the critical importance of cooperation between Ukrainian and Moldovan security services in combating terrorism and organized crime.

The operation demonstrates not only the proactive stance of security agencies against terrorist threats but also the vital role of international collaboration in facing modern challenges. The detention of individuals who posed a real danger attests to the effectiveness of the joint actions by Ukrainian and Moldovan law enforcement. Such measures can serve as a deterrent to further attempts to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, emphasizing the ongoing need for vigilance regarding state security.
