Manchester United has a penalty problem: will Fernandes lose the right to take them?.
According to The Sun: Bruno Fernandes has become a consistent and reliable option for Manchester United when selecting a penalty taker.
The Portuguese has been rescuing the Red Devils from the penalty spot for several years, particularly since his arrival at Old Trafford in January 2020.
However, after his furious miss from the spot against Fulham on Sunday, which cost MU three points, is it time for head coach Ruben Amorim to consider a change, especially with newcomers Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha waiting on the bench?
Fernandes has taken 27 penalties for MU in the Premier League, scoring 22 goals, which gives him a success rate of 81.5 percent. Not bad.
Among other players, he is in good company. Liverpool's leader Mo Salah has scored 34 out of 40 attempts, with a success rate of 85 percent. Manchester City's striker Erling Haaland has scored 17 goals out of 19, giving him a success rate of 89 percent.
Bruno Fernandes remains a reliable penalty taker for Manchester United, but new challenges may require consideration of alternative options. His success rate remains high, but potential discussions about involving other players, such as Mbeumo and Cunha, could benefit the team in future competitions.
