General Malomuzh expressed concern about the situation near Vuhledar

Ukrainian Army General Mykola Malomuzh expressed concern about the situation near Vuhledar, noting that it could develop under two main scenarios. The military official stated this on the Espreso TV channel.

In his opinion, if Vuhledar is captured, Russian forces will gain direct access to Pokrovsk and be able to advance through the territory of Donetsk region. This, in turn, could pose a threat to Ukrainian military units located in the region.

"This concerns both a possible enemy offensive towards Donbas and the maintenance of logistic routes to supply groups in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia. This is an alternative route to Crimea if the Crimean bridge and ferry crossings are destroyed," Malomuzh said.

The general stressed that Vuhledar is an important logistical and defensive center, and it is crucial to keep it under control. According to him, Ukrainian armed forces have strengthened their positions, but the Russians have numerical and firepower superiority. Malomuzh noted that the command considers two scenarios: the first involves a counterattack from the flanks that could nullify the opponent's capabilities; the second is a potential evacuation of troops in a critical situation.

"This is an extremely difficult situation, so the enemy is gradually advancing in terms of encircling Vuhledar. But if we talk about prospects, we assess these threats and consider two scenarios," the general noted.

At the moment, the situation near Vuhledar remains tense, with constant attacks from Russian forces. Information indicates that the number of attacks on Ukrainian positions is increasing, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces command is preparing new strategic decisions to defend the territory.

It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that geolocation footage published on September 24 shows that Russian forces advanced in the eastern part of Vuhledar to Desantnykiv Street, confirming reports from both Russian and Ukrainian sources that Russian troops managed to enter Vuhledar between September 23 and 24.

Moreover, this week the 57th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Army broke through the defenses of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is defending Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.

It is also worth mentioning that the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Black Zaporizhians, which is defending Vuhledar in the Donetsk region, has denied rumors about its withdrawal from the city. The corresponding video appeared on the official page of the brigade on Facebook.
