Situation in Pokrovsk. The head of the city military administration explained how the city prepared for the siege.
The fortifications of Pokrovsk are nearing completion
The distance from Pokrovsk to the established fortification structures 'dragon's teeth' is five kilometers. There is also an 87-kilometer anti-tank ditch around Pokrovsk. This was reported by the head of the Pokrovsk city military administration, Serhiy Dobriak, in an interview with 'Glavkom'.
In November 2024, the city council procured barrier pyramids 'PZ-1' (so-called 'dragon's teeth') for the amount of 11.3 million UAH. A total of 7,000 units were ordered. Questions from journalists about possible delays in delivery were qualified by the head of the Pokrovsk city military administration.
'In Donetsk region, each city and community is assigned a combat brigade. The military is responsible for the defense of specific settlements, they develop corresponding defense plans that are classified. According to military calculations, each community procures specified materials and services. For example, our combat brigade placed a defense order for us for the first Time in August 2024,' said Dobriak.
According to Dobriak, the Pokrovsk city military administration is actively working, engaging businesses and sponsors for the construction of fortifications.
'We also receive help from builders from six other regions. With their assistance, an 87-kilometer anti-tank ditch was constructed around Pokrovsk and other fortification structures. As for the 'dragon's teeth', they are installed at a distance of five kilometers from Pokrovsk. We plan to order another six thousand such pyramids,' added Serhiy Dobriak, noting that the fortification works are ongoing.
It should be recalled that Russian troops continue to move southwest of Pokrovsk, having crossed the Solona River. They have already settled 14 km away from the village of Udachne, where the Pokrovsk shaft management is located. This facility is important for Ukraine's metallurgical industry, as it extracts rare coal of grade 'K', which is necessary for steel production at the country's largest plants.
The head of the special staff on Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, Christian Freudinig, stated in the podcast Nachgefragt that Ukraine is likely to lose control over Pokrovsk in Donetsk region by the end of the current year or early next year.
