From July 1, Ukraine will no longer have 220 volts.
From July 1, 2025, Ukraine will transition to a new voltage standard of 230/400 V instead of the usual 220 V. This is taking place as part of the harmonization of legislation with European standards, reports 'Glavkom' citing the National Commission for State Regulation in the Sphere of Energy and Public Utilities.
New Quality Standards for Electricity Supply
After the national standard on voltage characteristics ceased to be in effect in March 2024, the European standard EN 50160 was approved in May of the same year, coming into effect on March 1, 2025. At the meeting of the NCRECP on April 15, changes to the Distribution System Code were approved to adapt to the new technical norms.
These changes will contribute to improving the quality of electricity supply, reducing the risks of equipment damage, and enhancing energy efficiency. The new standards align with European norms and will facilitate the harmonization of legislation in the energy sector with international standards.
The resolution on the use of the new voltage standard of 230/400 V is part of the convergence process of the Ukrainian energy system with European standards, which will contribute to improving the quality of electricity supply and energy efficiency in the country.Read also
