The coach of the Ukrainian biathlon team, Nadia Belova, commented on the competition in Russian during a live broadcast at the World Cup. Public activist Vadim Poznyakov drew attention to this while watching Suspilne Sport.
In the comments under the post, dozens of Ukrainians were outraged and called for the ombudsman to intervene in the situation.
The Language Ombudsman Taras Kremin noted that the coach's comments in Russian violate the language law. He also emphasized that an investigation into all circumstances of the incident has begun. In Suspilne, it was stated that due to technical limitations, there was no possibility to duplicate or translate the coach's comment.
It was also revealed that a police officer from Kyiv region expressed his love for the Ukrainian language during an exam. A video of his monologue is circulating on the internet. According to data from open sources, the police officer's name is Serhiy Babin, he is 39 years old, and he works in Boryspil.
