Dog Dave turned the apartment into a fluffy snowdrift in one evening: photo of the aftermath.
According to ТСН: The first attempt to leave a pet unsupervised ended in true shock for one family. The owners of a dog named Dave were astonished by what their pet had done in just a few hours of people being away.
A user from the social network Threads under the nickname @lisacorbz1 shared this astonishing story. When the owners returned home, they found the living room covered in a thick layer of white stuffing.
It turned out that while the owners were away, Dave decided to compete with the bedding and decorative pillows. The dog became so engrossed in this activity that he tore them into small pieces, turning the floor into a fluffy pile.
“This was the first time we left Dave alone for just one evening,” the owner succinctly captioned the photo.
The footage of the dog’s “designer renovation” quickly went viral, gaining over 17,000 likes. Commenters were quick to make ironic remarks:
“Did you seriously leave him alone with an exploding couch?” one laughed.
“The 'Home Alone' scenario during Christmas is always a bad idea, and Dave proved it!” others added.
Some even jokingly defended the animal, believing that the dog was set up by “unknown villains.”
Why pets become 'destructors'
Experts note that such behavior is quite common. According to Newsweek, while most dogs simply sleep during their owners' absence, some may experience significant stress or boredom. These emotions lead animals to chew on things and ruin furniture.
How long can a dog be alone? The safe time a dog can spend in an empty apartment depends on:
Age (puppies require more attention).
Health status.
Training level and temperament.
Experts say an adult dog can calmly wait for its owners for 4 to 6 hours, and with toys and comfortable conditions — up to 8 hours. However, Dave's example shows that sometimes a significantly shorter time frame is enough for “renovating” an apartment.
This story highlights how important it is to consider the needs of your pets before leaving them alone. Regular training, sufficient attention, and providing toys can reduce the likelihood of such situations. And for those who are not ready to leave their pet alone, it might be worth considering the services of trainers or friends for care.
