Scottish Striker Could Switch International Allegiance to Play for Ukraine.
Robbie Ure Weighs Change of Football Nationality
According to Novyny.live: Robbie Ure, a Scottish forward, is considering a shift in his international football career to represent Ukraine. Talks between the player and the Ukrainian Association of Football started several months ago, and the possibility of him acquiring Ukrainian citizenship is now being discussed.
Career and Track Record
Ure currently plays for the Swedish club Sirius, which he joined for around €750,000. He came through the youth system at Rangers and also spent time in the academy of Belgium's Anderlecht. In 2025, the striker played 30 matches, scoring 11 goals and providing 4 assists. He has carried strong form into the new season, netting 4 goals in 4 Swedish league appearances.
Despite his solid performances, Zhytomyr-based Polissya made a bid of about €1.5 million for the player, but the offer was turned down. Ure has previously featured for Scotland's youth national teams, but he now intends to play for Ukraine at the senior international level.
This development highlights the growing trend of players changing their football nationality, which can have significant implications for national team rosters. For Ukraine, securing Ure's services could provide a valuable boost, given his strong displays in Sweden's top flight. However, the process of obtaining citizenship and altering his sporting identity may spark debate among fans and analysts in both Ukraine and Scotland.
