Kyiv's 'Dynamo' suffered a defeat to Cyprus' 'Paphos' in the first match of the third round of Champions League qualifying. The final score was 0:1.
Head coach of 'Dynamo' Oleksandr Shovkovskyi acknowledged the defeat at the press conference. He noted that the team has chances in the second match.
Dynamo's Chances
According to Shovkovskyi, 'Dynamo' will have a two-leg confrontation, so the fate of the qualification is not yet decided. The coach emphasized that in the first half, the team had excellent opportunities to score but failed to capitalize on them. Shovkovskyi also highlighted the importance of converting chances for success in the tournament.
'In the first half, we had great chances to score, but we didn't convert our moments, and in one instance, due to mistakes, we allowed a counter-attack that our opponent managed to convert. Undoubtedly, we are disappointed with the result of the first match, but nothing is determined yet.'
The coach also refused to discuss refereeing, declining to comment on the situation with the unawarded penalty on Vladyslav Vanat.
Currently, 'Dynamo' is preparing for the return match on August 12 in Cyprus, where they need to recover from a one-goal deficit. If unsuccessful, the team will continue its fight in the Europa League playoffs.
