Yuliia Yuryna on her Parents in Russia: They Probably Do Not Know I Am an Artist

According to ТСН: The former soloist of the band YUKO, singer Yuliia Yuryna, openly talked about how her parents in Russia react to her pro-Ukrainian stance and her plans to obtain Ukrainian citizenship.

Life in Ukraine and Parents in Russia

Yuliia has been living in Ukraine for about 15 years and actively promotes Ukrainian culture, folklore, and music. Despite the full-scale war, her mom and dad remain in Russia. The singer notes that communication with them is almost absent, and their perception of reality is significantly shaped by Russian propaganda. Yuliia believes that her parents may not even know about her creativity and her desire to become a citizen of Ukraine.

"It seems to me that they don't even know about this (the attempt to obtain Ukrainian citizenship - note). As far as I understand, there is already an iron curtain there (in Russia). It's a big problem for them to even check my Instagram. It seems to me that they don’t even know that I am an artist. Well, they know I sing. And that's it. They remembered me as an 18-year-old. And now I am 31," Yuliia shared in an interview with blik.ua.

About Rare Connections with Family

The singer also confessed that relatives occasionally get in touch, but she does not hide that she has never had close and regular conversations with her parents, and she does not strive to restore them.

"There are kids who call their parents every day. I am not one of those. We somehow did not get along. We communicate very rarely — only on big holidays," the artist honestly noted.

Let us remind you that recently, the winner of 'Eurovision-2014' Conchita Wurst withdrew from the competition and explained her position.

Yuliia Yuryna, who actively supports Ukrainian culture, faces difficulties in communicating with her parents due to their presence in Russia. Her story underscores how war and information isolation affect family ties and personal relationships, which has become yet another testimony to how the political situation impacts human destinies.
