Call to End Support for Russia

According to TSN.ua: During a 2023 United Nations Security Council meeting, U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Tammy Bruce, called on nations to cease their support for Russia's war against Ukraine. This appeal comes as the conflict continues to inflict severe humanitarian costs and poses a significant threat to global security. Bruce specifically named the following countries as providing support to Russia:

  • China
  • North Korea
  • Iran
  • Cuba

Tammy Bruce emphasized that the United States urges all UN member states to end any assistance that enables the continuation of this devastating war.

The Critical Role of China

Bruce placed particular emphasis on the actions of China, stating:

“If China genuinely wants peace, it must immediately halt the export of dual-use goods and stop purchasing Russian oil.”
She also called on all parties to continue negotiations with flexibility and a commitment to protecting their citizens, adding:
“We once again urge both sides to continue negotiations in a spirit of flexibility, compromise, and the duty to protect and cherish the lives of their citizens, to end this barbaric war once and for all.”

It is noted that Cuba began providing Russia with military personnel in 2025, demonstrating the ongoing nature of support from certain nations. Meanwhile, China's Foreign Ministry has already stated its support for peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, which may indicate a potential shift in the country's stance. As the war persists, calls to cut off support for Russia gain heightened urgency, as they could significantly influence the conflict's trajectory and regional stability.

These remarks by Tammy Bruce underscore the importance of international unity on matters of security and peace, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine. Appeals to countries backing Russia reflect U.S. efforts to strengthen the coalition against aggression and seek paths to a peaceful resolution. China's position, given its prior support for Russia and its substantial economic and political interests in the region, could play a decisive role in shaping future developments in the conflict.
