Stability of the Euro-Atlantic space depends on the situation in Ukraine - former NATO general.
Former NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Defense Policy Horst-Heinrich Brauss stated that Ukraine's stability is necessary for the stability in the Euro-Atlantic space. He hopes that the U.S. administration will bring the independence and stability of Ukraine to the attention of President Donald Trump.
Brauss expressed doubts about the implementation of Trump's statements about ceasing military actions in Ukraine. He believes that such statements would not benefit U.S. interests. The expert also noted that Putin might take advantage of the situation if Americans stop helping Ukraine, creating additional pressure.
Brauss hopes that Joe Biden can provide the last block of assistance amounting to 6 billion dollars, but emphasizes that further assistance will depend on the Europeans.
Regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO, Brauss acknowledges that there are obstacles that complicate the process. He emphasizes that Ukraine does not yet meet NATO criteria but believes that announcing the start of the process would be a step forward.
