Opponent of deceased motorcyclist withdraws from competition to make him posthumous champion.

Motorcyclist Filippo Rovelli refused to participate in the last two stages of the National Trophy 1000 Italy tournament so that Luca Salvadori would posthumously become the winner. This was reported by Marca

Salvadori sustained severe injuries at the stage of the International Road Racing Championship (IRRC) in Germany and died in the hospital on September 15. He was the leader of the general classification of the National Trophy 1000.

«Luca, our paths crossed on the track for many years, but we never had as many battles as this year. Every race was a true face-to-face battle. We had two more races ahead, two more opportunities to challenge each other again», – Rovelli stated.

He noted that the championship was over for him because without Salvadori, his drive and talent, there was no reason to continue competing.

«This title belongs to you, Luca, and you deserved it. I wish you could celebrate it differently, shake your hand, and tell you that you are the best. This championship is yours and it will be yours forever», – Rovelli emphasized.

It should be noted that on September 17, 25-year-old boxer and member of the Ukrainian national team Arkadiy Karzan passed away.

The boxer was in a coma for three days, and today his heart stopped. The exact causes of the athlete's death are not reported.

Karzan - international master of sports

Karzan was an international master of sports in boxing, a multiple champion of Ukraine. He represented our country at the 2023 European Games. The boxer then ended his fight in the 1/8 finals of the competition.

In domestic competitions, Arkadiy competed for the Khmelnytskyi region and the sports club «Avangard».

In 2023, Karzan became the champion of Ukraine in boxing in the 92 kg category. In 2015, the athlete also became the European junior champion.

«Such a desire for victories as that of this guy is hard to find, he dreamed of becoming an Olympic champion and worked a lot for it. The boxing family expresses its sincere condolences to Arkadiy's family! Rest in peace, champion! We will always remember you!», – stated the Ukrainian Boxing Federation.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of January, the head coach of the Ukrainian boxing team Dmytro Sosnovsky reported that Karzan had a psychological breakdown at the tournament in Debrecen.
