Switzerland deports Ukrainians for the first time since the start of the full-scale war.
Switzerland expelled three Ukrainians from the country who committed crimes. This happened for the first Time since the start of the war. This is reported by NZZ.
On Wednesday, October 30, three Ukrainians were deported from Zurich on a special flight. They committed crimes in Switzerland. This is the first time since February 2022 that Switzerland has sent Ukrainians back to their homeland for committed criminal acts.
According to NZZ, the deportation flight was sent to Poland, from where the three Ukrainians will be taken to Ukraine.
The Swiss State Secretariat for Migration does not disclose details about the crimes committed by the Ukrainians, citing data protection and privacy.
According to NZZ, the people deported from the country through court have committed serious crimes. They must have been charged with serious offenses such as robbery, deprivation of liberty, or causing bodily harm. They committed their crimes in the canton of Zurich, where they were convicted and expelled from the country.
According to a survey conducted by the Munich-based Ifo Institute's Center for International Institutional Comparisons and Migration Studies, nearly a quarter of Ukrainian refugees plan to settle abroad for a long term.
79% of Ukrainians do not want to move to the USA or the EU even if they receive citizenship in these countries. The survey results show that the willingness of Ukrainians to relocate abroad has increased to 19% compared to September 2022, but remains lower than in 2020. Additionally, most Ukrainians (79%) state that even if they receive citizenship in the USA or EU countries, they will still remain in Ukraine.
