Biography of Andrey Deschytsa

Date of Birth: 22.09.1965

Andrey Bohdanovych Deschytsa - Ukrainian diplomat, Ambassador of Ukraine. He served as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland and Iceland (2007-2012). He was also the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland from 2014 to 2022. From February 27 to June 19, 2014, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Spas village, Lviv region. In 1989, he graduated from the Franco University of Lviv and in 1995 from the Imperial University (Edmonton, Canada), where he obtained a Master's degree in history. Doctor of Political Sciences. He speaks English and Polish.

Career. From 1996 to 1999, he was the Press Secretary and First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland.

From 1999 to 2001, he was the senior coordinator of the PAUSI program (Polish-Ukrainian-American Cooperation Program).

From 2008 to 2012, he was the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Finland and Iceland (in representation).

From October 2012 to February 2014, he was an ambassador on special missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, special envoy of the current chairman of the OSCE for conflict resolution (2013).

From February 27 to June 19, 2014, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, while under Oleksandr Turchynov, who exercised the functions of the President of Ukraine.

From October 13, 2014, to February 8, 2022, he was the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland.
