Leonid Emets

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Kyiv. Graduated with honors from Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv in 2001 with a degree in Law, receiving a Master's degree in Law. Doctor of Law, defended his dissertation on the topic 'Public Administration of Non-State Civic Associations - an Administrative Law Study'.
Career. From 2001 to 2005 - member of the Reform and Order Party. At the age of 23, he unsuccessfully ran for the Kyiv City Council for the Our Ukraine bloc.
During the presidential elections of 2004, he was a representative of presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko in electoral district No. 219, led Yushchenko's headquarters in Pechersk, and was the commander of a unit during the Orange Maidan.
In 2005, Emets joined the Our Ukraine party, and in 2006 he became a member of the Pechersk City Council, leading the Our Ukraine faction. In 2009, he left Our Ukraine due to disagreements over President Yushchenko's political course.
From 2005 to 2008, he was the deputy director at the LLC Audit Firm Energopromexpert.
From 2008 to 2012, he was the deputy head of the charity organization Fund for Supporting Municipal Initiatives.
Since 2009, he has been the head of the Civil Position Department of the Pechersk District.
From December 2012 to November 2014, he was a deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament in the Verkhovna Rada of the VII Congress, a member of the Fatherland faction. He was elected through electoral district No. 221 in Kyiv as a candidate from Fatherland. Chairman of the Subcommittee on Intellectual Property Issues of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Science and Education, Secretary of the Committee on Priority Issues of Law and Justice.
In September 2014, he joined the People's Front party.
From November 2014 to August 2019, he was a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, a member of the People's Front faction. He was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of the VIII Congress through early elections in electoral district No. 221 (Kyiv) as a candidate of the People's Front. First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy and Justice.
In the 2019 Parliamentary elections, he ran as a Deputy for the party Golos (electoral district No. 221, Kyiv), losing the elections.
On October 25, 2020, he was elected to the Kyiv City Council as a member of the IX Congress of the Kyiv City Council for the European Solidarity party.
