Kyiv is preparing for blackouts: what will change in the city's operations and budget
According to Novyny.live: On the air of the program 'Kyiv Time' on the Novyny.LIVE YouTube channel, the preparation of the capital for blackouts, energy resilience, tariffs, the work of the city authorities, transport, shelters, budget decisions, and key risks are discussed. Guests of the program included Leonid Yemets, Oleksandr Grechko, Oleksandr Trokhymets, Hennadiy Kryvosheya, Serhiy Nagornyak, and Tetiana Yalovchak.
A public report from six deputy heads of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) regarding actions during blackouts is scheduled for January 15 at the Kyiv City Council. Among the topics to be discussed:
- Why the city authorities appear helpless in the absence of light and heating;
- Who will bear responsibility for the unsuccessful preparation for the heating season;
- The situation with assistance to people compared to other cities like Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Lviv.
In addition, the issue of public transport was raised on the air, in particular, why trams stop and why the roads remain uncleaned. An important topic was also the recent emergency incident when a girl fell into a pit with boiling water. These issues require urgent solutions as they affect the lives of Kyiv residents and the overall state of the capital.
The importance of preparing for blackouts
The preparation of Kyiv for possible blackouts is an important aspect since the city, as the capital, must ensure stability and security for its residents. Given the numerous problems discussed on the program, the need for effective solutions is becoming increasingly urgent, especially in light of the growing risks of energy crisis recovery. It is important for the city authorities to consider the experiences of other cities and rectify shortcomings in the organization of assistance and the functioning of infrastructure to avoid repeating past mistakes.
